Le Golf de Mouriès vu des Caisses de JeanJean - Provence Pays d'Arles

… the olive capital

Mouriès nestles in the heart of the Regional Natural Park of the Alpilles, on the southern side, where the sun shines brightly more than 300 days a year. Mouriès extends over more than 3,800 hectares, surrounded by olive trees, vines, almond trees and cypress hedges. This village of 3,000 people bathes in tranquillity and Provençal douceur de vivre.

Mouriès is the largest olive-producing commune in France, with over 80,000 olive trees, and enjoys a protected natural setting in the Alpilles Massif. This essentially rural village has preserved its authentic and convivial character. You will have the opportunity to discover mills and olive groves and to taste the AOP olive oil of the Vallée des Baux, which is produced in the commune. You can enjoy the limitless Provençal douceur de vivre on the café terraces and under the ancient plane trees of the Cours Paul Revoil.

You can share in great festivities during the many Provençal festivals and traditions. The Ribbon and Bullfighting Club Festival in June; the local festival of Saint Louis in August with its many events and great aïoli, the Green Olive Festival in September with its Provençal procession, one of the most prestigious in the region; the Taste Festival in October. Mouriès is a gourmet and convivial village and also a wonderful setting for leisure and outdoor activities, such as the walking race on the very popular 'Ronde des Oliviers', golf at the superb 18-hole course, walks and hikes with kilometres of sign-posted routes and well-known climbing sites.

Don't miss the remarkable view of the archaeological site of the Caisses de Jean-Jean. On Wednesday mornings throughout the year, Mouriès becomes filled with colours and aromas as the Provençal market takes over the town centre.

There is plenty of accommodation, and its two hotels, its tourist residence, its many furnished tourist rentals and guest rooms and its two camp sites mean that you can stay on the peaks of the Alpilles plateau.
