In 1644, the decision was made to build a new consular house. Four years later, Tarascon Hôtel de Ville was born (Louis XIII style). The façade was inspired by examples in Arles and has a corbelled stone balcony and a niche which houses the statue of Saint Martha with the Tarasque. Tarascon Hôtel de Ville was considered a very fashionable building in the mid-17th century. The other characteristics, which include pelmets, plant-based sculptures and bouquets of acanthus on the façade and around the windows, are very sombre in style.

The 15th century main building, which was renovated circa 1640, belonged to the d'Aiminy family. Many town consuls came from this family. The first printing workshops for 'indiennes' fabrics were created in 1818 and were located in the former Capuchin convent; in 1820 they were transferred to a church by Mr Jourdan and Mr Quinche.

Date: 17th century Era: Classical period Type: Domestic architecture Status: Private property listed as a regional Historic Monument in 1925. The Hôtel de la Lauzière testifies to the social climbing of large Arles families in the Classical Age and the architectural mark they left on the town. The building's façade, originally built in the central district of town in the early 17th century and restored in the 18th century, fortunately still has one of the most beautiful portals in Arles.

The Hôtel de Luppé's astonishing façade, opposite the western tower of the amphitheatre, resembles a Florentine palace. Its successive owners evoke the past of several large Arles families and testify to their great contribution to domestic architecture in the town.. Although dating from the 17th century, the only part visible from the outside is the façade erected in the early 20th century by Gaston de Luppé, the artist, scholar and Italophile.

(formerly Hôtel du Roure) This mansion, built in the same style as the Parisian mansions of the time, has façades on which it is still possible to see all the particularly sophisticated original decoration, as well as most of its interior layout. From the street, visitors can admire the porch bearing the coat of arms of the Le Roure family, the three wings surrounding the courtyard, the décor of supporting wall ties on the ground floor and the elegance of the large windows. Tarascon enjoyed many privileges under the reign of the Counts of Provence. In August 1272, an Act of Charles I of Anjou, the uncle of King René, authorised the founding of a Maison de la Monnaie (Mint), thus allowing Tarascon to mint money in the same way as Tours. Coins were minted here from 1387 to 1520. During this time, a real coin and a fake coin were nailed to the door, in order to inform the population and discourage forgers. The mint ceased operation between 1518 and 1526 and between 1543 and 1591, as its activity was contested by the Provence Parliament.
