The Assomption Church dates back to 1325. The forecourt of the parish church is accessed via the 19th century monumental horseshoe staircase. On the forecourt near the Town Hall, at the bottom of the church, a decorated cast iron cross sits on top of a stone altar where the priest of the commune would officiate under certain circumstances. This cross replaced an old wooden cross which supported a very large Christ. The first church was within the village of La Savoie, at the foot of the château ruins.

In Antiquity, cemeteries were always outside the walls of the town and were often located along major roads. At the start of the Empire, cremation graves, sarcophogi and mausolea were dotted along the side of the Via Aurelia, creating a vast necropolis. However, the cemetery became extremely significant during the Paleo-Christian era, with the inhumation of the martyr Saint Genest and the burial of the first Bishops of Arles, who were placed in a chapel later surrounded by a large number of tombs grouped together in several rows.

This district dates back to the Middle Ages and was for a long time the favourite district of mariners; the La Roquette district remains one of the most attractive in town. Its original urban herringbone layout features attractive narrow and sometimes raised houses between the Quai du Rhône and the Boulevard Clemenceau. The façades with their many architectural decorations and the niches which adorn the street corners, attract the eyes and encourage visitors to take their time.

Built in 1909, this fountain pays tribute to the River Durance which flows to the north of Châteaurenard. Its inscription, 'Eici, l’aigo es d’or' (Here, water is gold) reveals the importance of this river, not only for the Châteaurenard region, but also for a large part of the Pays d'Arles. Its canalisation and distribution throughout the territory by means of a hydraulic network of small streams and canals allowed a flourishing fruit and vegetable production industry to develop on this arid or marshy land.

Under the Ancien Regime, the Rue des Halles housed the town's covered market; today it is the last covered street in the Department. Its oldest arches date from the 14th century. On one side were fishmongers and on the other side, butchers. Nearby, the Place du Marché, formerly the Place aux Herbes, was once the location of fruit- and vegetable-sellers, but it was also the main site of the Tarasque games, as the race took place around the well in the middle of the square.
