The residence, celebrated in the preface to 'Letters From My Windmill', was primarily a place of peace and relaxation for Alphonse Daudet, 'Blessed house, so many times have I come here to seek the healing touch of nature, to cure myself of Paris and its fevers...' This superb building, with its late 18th century gabled façade, was the residence of the Ambroy family, which housed the author during his stays in Provence. Daudet made regular stays there with his wife Julia from 1863, at the invitation of his cousins.

In Provençal, a 'font' was a fountain or sometimes a spring. This is a small building constructed in 1150 in the Fontvieille countryside. It housed the commune's first spring. The commune took its name from this fountain, 'Vieio Font' in Provençal, which translates as 'old fountain.'. It was already in use in Roman times and still supplies the wash house located nearby.

The Oratory is located at the entrance to Dumas country and was named after the last owner, the judge and Mayor of Maillane, who carried out major work there. It was erected in 1875 by one of Joseph Dumas' daughters. The Rogation processions sometimes used to stop there. It is a pleasant, quiet and shaded location.

(formerly Hôtel du Roure) This mansion, built in the same style as the Parisian mansions of the time, has façades on which it is still possible to see all the particularly sophisticated original decoration, as well as most of its interior layout. From the street, visitors can admire the porch bearing the coat of arms of the Le Roure family, the three wings surrounding the courtyard, the décor of supporting wall ties on the ground floor and the elegance of the large windows. The Towers of Camargue, little of which remains on the ground, are nevertheless still present in the toponymy of the delta and in written sources. They were subject to the many fluctuations of the branches of the Rhône and their history also testifies to a range of different functions. The towers were originally defensive, and also acted as lighthouses for sailors, as visual communication aids ('farots'), and as a commercial surveillance post.

This construction was built in 1646. It serves as a reminder of a famous knights' tournament, 'Le Pas d'Armes de la Bergère', which was organised by King René and held on the island of Jarnègues in 1449. The branches of the Rhône flowed as far as this district for centuries. It was from here that the boats left, carrying goods and men, and for trading purposes. It is the town's only secondary gate.

Tarascon enjoyed many privileges under the reign of the Counts of Provence. In August 1272, an Act of Charles I of Anjou, the uncle of King René, authorised the founding of a Maison de la Monnaie (Mint), thus allowing Tarascon to mint money in the same way as Tours. Coins were minted here from 1387 to 1520. During this time, a real coin and a fake coin were nailed to the door, in order to inform the population and discourage forgers. The mint ceased operation between 1518 and 1526 and between 1543 and 1591, as its activity was contested by the Provence Parliament.
