The Place de la République, in the town centre, is the result of progressive development through a number of architectural and urban operations. It is to the south of the old Roman forum. In the Middle Ages, it was reduced to a narrow forecourt between Saint-Trophime Church and Sainte-Anne Church. Its current surface area was then occupied by several residential blocks. It was mainly after the construction of the town hall, in the 17th century, that the Place changed considerably.

The Samatane building was the first magnificent Mas to be built in the commune and was a former coaching inn known as the Auberge de Chatillon. This name is demonstrated by the term Coussoul de Chatillon, which designates the location.

Built in 1909, this fountain pays tribute to the River Durance which flows to the north of Châteaurenard. Its inscription, 'Eici, l’aigo es d’or' (Here, water is gold) reveals the importance of this river, not only for the Châteaurenard region, but also for a large part of the Pays d'Arles. Its canalisation and distribution throughout the territory by means of a hydraulic network of small streams and canals allowed a flourishing fruit and vegetable production industry to develop on this arid or marshy land.

Erected in 1869 (restored in 1982 and 1994), this Oratory dedicated to Saint Eloi is one of the most common votive buildings in our region. The 1994 restoration allowed the Noves Heritage Association to bring the tradition of the Saint Eloi chariot back to Noves. This 'carreto ramado' takes place every year on the first Sunday in June. The chapel is at the entrance to the Château des Baux de Provence. Although it was originally dedicated to the Virgin Mary, it has been dedicated to Saint Catherine since the 15th century. The castle chapel was within the surrounding walls which symbolically protect the entrance to the Château, as was common in the Middle Ages. The building set vertically to the small ditch, remains of which can still be seen, was part of the Château; on the first level, that of the courtyard, it housed the castle chapel. The gaps in the cliff reveal the existence of two levels above the chapel.

This is a very attractive wash house made of Fontvieille stone. The fresh water came from the 'Vieille Font' fountain nearby. At the time, the inhabitants used it to wash their clothes during the 'bugado' ('washing' in Provençal). It is fairly large, as the village's population was growing steadily over time, and the wash house had to meet everyone's needs. It is a timeless place; it is in the country and thus has a calm atmosphere.

The prosperity of the town of Tarascon led to a number of noble families settling there from the 15th century. Aristocrats, bourgeois, traders and clergymen who wanted to make their mark on the urban landscape built splendid private residences here. Thanks to their wonderful exterior decoration, the façades of these mansions testify to many different individual solutions, replaced by the magnificent expression of Provençal Mannerism in the early 17th century, a low-key period for architecture in Provence.
